Personal Work Update

I haven't done much updating on my personal work. I really have just been focusing on it and this deviated from it but as I keep changing ideas I thought I would upload a few images before I move onto the next step.

Most of these where worked on at the same time.

I worked on this of, taking away and adding areas. I was thinking about adding a face to show more emotion as well as relating it back to my personal attachment to the mountains. However it didn't quite work so I ended up taking a lot of it away.

I wanted to try out a different material and thought large mono printing could be a good way of layering, taking way and adding, quickly. It was also a great way of testing out textures.

I wanted to try and add in text, layering and layering up to create something quite chaotic. It work on some levels but I don't think it is doing what I want.

None of this was really doing what I wanted. I want to create something that's ore spacial, so there is a real connection between the viewer and the object in regards to distance and the overall feeling of being overwhelmed.

Here is a mockup for a 3D installation, the idea is that it would be hung with he idea of temporal suspension of the mind. Here a distance would be created physically.

I feel that this still isn't overwhelming enough. I know it is a mock but even in large scale I think it wouldn't be immersive enough. It's still to flat even if things are curved or hung overhead.

I have had another idea. I am going to so some tests and try and research into materials that might work but I am thinking a sphere might be what I'm searching for. I want to continue with the idea of layering the separate elements, such as delight, fear, power etc. The details will be painted on the inside of the sphere. It will be hung or on poled coming from the ground. People will be able to "get in" the spare and will be surrounded. From the outside it will just the layered shapes.

It's hard to explain, but I think this will be far more overwhelming and intimidating which is primarily what I want. The all the other elements such as delight, distance and suspension come into play.
